Verizon Galaxy S3 Release Date: June 2012
Samsung-Galaxy-S33

**Update May 15 – The Galaxy S3 manual leaked > Galaxy S3 manual **

The Galaxy S3 is coming to Verizon and Samsung is bringing their freaking A game with a 4.8″ screen beast that will fit perfect in your manly hands. It’s 2012 so you gotta have 2012 specs all the way around if you want to be the top smart phone… besides, who knows what Apple will bring in the fall for the iPhone 5 (besides an obviously faster processor).

Lets quickly list some of the most impressive Galaxy S3 features

  • S Voice
  • S Beam
  • SmartStay
  • Pop up play- picture in picture – watch video while running other apps
  • 4.8″ Super AMOLED Plus HD Display at 720p - 309ppi pixel density
  • 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Processor (possibly the quad-core Exynos processor)
  • Android 4.04
  • 8MP camera, 24 fps, face detection + 1080p video camera + Burst mode
  • NFC Chip
  • LTE
  • Bluetooth 4

What’s the big deal with the Galaxy S3? Quad-core or dual-core?

It’s got a quad-core processor…well, at this time it looks like only the overseas version and those dorks at Tmobile (because of  HSPA+) will be getting the quad-core S3.  However don’t get depressed because the Verizon version will be sporting the amazingly fast Snapdragon S4 1.5GHz processor. Checkout this leaked NenaMark2 results showing the Verizon S3 dualcore.

Galaxy S3 Camera

Awe man it’s only a 8MP!?! Listen, 8MP is plenty of megapixals you nerd. The camera on the Galaxy S3 is awesome and brings some impressive features.  How about the ability to shoot 3 shots per second manually and you can shoot 6 per second with burst mode up to a whopping 20 in a row!  Then you can pick the best shot out of the ridiculous amount of pictures you just took to make sure that everybody has their darn eyes open.

While you’re shooting the beautiful 1080p video you can take snapshots too which is very useful.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Screen – 4.8″…only for men

Bottom line, it’s a big 4.8″ beautiful 720p screen that will look great…end of story.

If you’re mad that the Galaxy S3 screen is a PenTile AMOLED and not a RGB or some other BS then you’re a huge dork.  Guess what, the S3 screen will look great so shut up. Yes, if you hold it up 3″ away from your face and carefully look at it you might be able to see some pixels if you look very hard, big deal.

Galaxy S3 Pop up play

Yep, it’s picture in picture on your phone. It’s basically like your desktop computer…you can move the video window around OVER any other apps. Type an email or text  or surf the web on that 4.8″ screen while you’re watching game of thrones.

Galaxy S3 S Beam

Basically this is a feature that lets you wirelessly send files from one S3 to another quickly. Just put the phones back to back and press the button on screen and beam!

Galaxy S3 S Voice

Basically this is siri for the Galaxy S3. You can unlock your S3 with your voice, ask directions, launch apps, call your mom, type out text messages, update your facebook status and probably a ton of other cool stuff we don’t know about yet.

Galaxy S3 Smart Stay

What the heck is this? The S3 uses the front camera to read your face and tell if you’re looking at it so the screen won’t go dim if you’re reading something. Yep, that’s it.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Specs

  • 4.8″ Super AMOLED Plus HD Display at 720p
  • 1GB RAM
  • 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Processor (possibly the quad-core Exynos processor)
  • Android 4.0
  • 8MP camera, 24 fps, face detection
  • 1080p video camera
  • S Voice
  • S Beam
  • SmartStay
  • Pop up play- picture in picture – watch video while running other apps
  • NFC Chip
  • LTE
  • Super thin at 8.6mm thick
  • 2,100 mAh battery
  • 1,9MP front camera @ 720p
  • Bluetooth 4
  • 16GB – 64GB storage + microSD

Other Galaxy S3 news
  • Samsung Galaxy S3 as the official phone for the London Olympics

Samsung had record world wide sales with the Galaxy S2 and there was no doubt there would be a Galaxy S3.

Droid RAZR HD - MAX

The Droid RAZR is an amazing phone, you really need to feel it in you hand before you decide on a new phone to buy because it’s shockingly thin and looks beautiful. We all know Motorola and Verizon like to pinch out new phones and new version of popular phones as soon as they possibly can (like the Droid 3 and 6 months later the Droid 4). Motorola released the Motorola HD XT928 & Motorola MT917 in China.

The latest rumor was the Droid Fighter…but that turns out to be the codename for the Droid RAZR HD!

Hello 13MP rear camera! It’s basically the same phones as the Droid RAZR except the 4.5″ screen that is 720p LCD at 330ppi.  The RAZR HD will have an improved processor over the RAZR and Droid 4.

And yes, they’re slapping the very impressive 3,300mAh battery from the Droid RAZR Maxx in the Razr HD.  Honestly, we think this size of a battery should be standard in smartphones so you can easily to all day without worrying about charging.  I know I’d give up 50-75% MORE thickness if my battery could be 2x-3x…it would still be a thin phone. The droid razr maxx is still thinner then the iPhone 4 and has a 21 hour battery life over the iPhone’s 9 hours.

We’ve heard rumors of a Droid HD for a while, it could have been the Droid RAZR HD all along.

** This phone has been renamed to the Droid RAZR HD **
Droid Fighter Release Date: Spring 2012

droid-fighter

Are there enough Droids available? It looks like Verizon is going to answer that question for you with a no…the latest rumor is they’re about to launch another Droid…the Droid Fighter.

At this point the Droid Fighter is a rumor, however the nerds at droidlife have been given a screen shot from some kind of Verizon system and it shows the Droid Fighter around April and also a LG Cayman. Keep in mind the screen shot above is not a release date.

This is so early that the Droid Fighter doesn’t even have any rumored specs besides guessing that it’s going to be a high end beast.

If the Droid Fighter is a high end phone it will need a Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and a 720p screen.  Impressive specs hu? Yes that is 2GB of RAM…that’s what the Atrix 3  rumored to have. The Galaxy S3 might have 1.5GB RAM and the HTC One X has 1GB of RAM.

Market Status: Not Released (This phone is an early rumor)
Galaxy Journal Release Date: Spring/Summer 2012 (no rumor date yet)

galaxy journal

Is the Galaxy Nexus not big enough for you? Then why don’t you try out the massive 5.3 inch Galaxy Journal that is rumored to be coming to big Verizon soon.

That’s right, the Galaxy Note that is headed to AT&T is being renamed the Galaxy Journal and headed for Verizon (maybe even Sprint too).

If you don’t know much about the Galaxy Note you can read some reviews at engadget, wired and pocketnow. Basically it’s a big phone that has great performance…there, I saved you 10 minutes of reading.

I’ll sum up the reviews with a few words:

  • It’s big
  • It has great performance
  • The screen is beautiful
  • The stylus is cool
  • Great camera
  • Great battery
  • It’s big and not for 12 year old girls, you gotta have man hands for this phone.
One rumor about the Galaxy Journal for Verizon is that they’re bumping up the processor speed just enough so nobody will ever notice…from 1.4GHz to 1.5GHz.

Galaxy Journal Specs

  • 1.5GHz Dual-core processor
  • 4G LTE
  • 5.3″ WXGA 1280 x 800 HD Super AMOLED display
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8MP camera LED flash + panorama shot, smile shot
  • 1080p video camera @ 24-30fps
  • 2MP front camera
  • Bluetooth 3.0
  • 16GB internal memory + up to 32GB microSD
  • Android 2.3
  • Accelerometer + compass
